Central Filtration Systems Eliminates complete or partial dumping of coolant system filters dirt particles as small as 5 micron removes tramp oil from water soluble coolant system automatically maintains tramp oil concentration to desired pre-programmed level reduces index frequency and increases efficiency of main coolant filtration system improves operation of machine tools cuts cost of maintaining coolant system and waste disposal
Media-Vac Filter It pre-filters the coolant before centrifuging. Dirty coolant could enter the filter via the suction generator jet pump mounted to the filter tank. The coolant is filtered to five microns and deposited in the clean tank. The low flow rate of coolant through the filter area allows tramp oil to pass through the filter media while trapping greases and dirt. The Media-Vac lets the centrifuge perform its primary function of separating tramp oil from the coolant without having to separate large amounts of dirt which can clog the centrifuge.
Foam Filtration Aeration of the coolant occurs as it is introduced into the filter tank and as it overflows the clean tank to the filter tank. The combination of aeration and tramp oil produces foam. Fine particles of residual dirt collect on the foam bubbles and then saturated with residual fines. The Media-Vac filter automatically removes this layer of contaminated tramp oil.
Adjustable Filter Flow Rate From 0 to 70 GPM maximizes efficiency of the filter media.
Centrifuge The centrifuge is very efficient in separating large amounts of tramp oil from water soluble coolants, as much as 700 GPD from a system containing 10% tramp oil. As the tramp oil content decreases, the flow of tramp oil discharged reduces to a point that equals the amount of tramp oil flowing into the system. The point at which the discharge flow of tramp oil stabilizes provides a check for new oil leaks.
Residual Fines Removal Regardless of the degree of filtration, residual fines less than five micron in size will remain entrained in the coolant being processed by the centrifuge. The residual fines, heavier than water, are collected on the inside periphery of the centrifuge bowl where they concentrate to form larger particles. These larger particles are automatically discharged at timed intervals back to the filter tank to be removed by the Media-Vac filter. This automatic discharge is called shooting of the centrifuge.
Centrifuge Shoot Coolant Recovery Since the discharge from a centrifuge shoot is directed to the filter tank, no coolant is ever lost from the system.
Tramp Oil Pump This is a small gear pump used to remove the discharged oil from the oil tank to the appropriate collection point. Discharge timers track the amount of tramp oil being removed from the system.
Tramp Oil Concentration Experience shows that coolants work best within a range of tramp oil concentration. This system continuously reprocesses the coolant until the tramp oil concentration in the system is reduced to the desired minimum level. At this concentration, the programmable controller is programmed to automatically shut down the centrifuge. Periodically, the centrifuge is automatically restarted to check and maintain the desired concentration of tramp oil.
Timer – Counter – Access – Terminal The electrical control panel is equipped with a Timer-Counter-Access-Terminal, which permits the operator to monitor the system in operation and to fine-tune the system under changing conditions.
Each system is built to the clients specific requirements.
