Many companies are evaluating the use of a comprehensive chemical management program to enhance the  manufacturing  process, improve quality and reduce costs. This type of innovative program represents complete control of chemical materials from procurement, delivery, use in manufacturing, recycling, and disposal.  These programs utilize chemical management as a tool for this process, and provides the steps required for improving manufacturing.

Because each company has a unique business plan, Southern Chemical Supply tailors our services to your exact operational needs.  We conduct a preliminary audit of your operations, and develop a comprehensive plan to enhance how chemical materials are utilized in the client facility.

The scope of our programs may encompass any number of the job  functions listed below.  Total Chemical Management includes:

·        Administration and Procurement (products and services)

·        Chemical Storage (on-site and off-site utilizing regional warehousing)

·        Inventory Management

·        Delivery (JIT)

·        Process Control and Analytical Services

·       Facility Operational Control (WWTP,  coolant and lubrication programs)

·       Environmental Control ( Used oil removal, WWT liquid waste disposal, waste minimization, recycling programs and container management)

·        Cost Control

·        Training

·        Communication and Reporting

Our proposals are predicated on the initial utilization of a core team of companies and products (those currently used and considered essential). SCSI will provide focused expertise in nonproduction support services such as chemical control, water/wastewater treatment, lubrication, data gathering and review. Leveraging the talents and blending the strengths of your current supply base will allow us to reduce administrative overhead, eliminate redundancies, and improve communications. Accordingly, we assign a Program Manager to handle all aspects of the Chemical Management Program.

We can provide the necessary program resources including:

·        Human resources

·        Products

·        Document control (including environmental record-keeping & reporting)

·        Transportation

·        Technical services ( analytical testing and system support)

·        Computer hardware

SCSI will make a seamless transition to total chemical management by providing a detailed launch plan which will involve current vendors and client control systems presently at work in the plant. SCSI would review with the client the initial inventory levels and purchase or reconcile these materials over the life of the contract.  SCSI will review all facility operations where chemical products or procedures impact costs, and present these findings to the client management for review.  Those that merit implementation will be phased in based on a master program schedule. Since most current systems and procedures are favorable, SCSI will provide fine tuning enhancements, rather than broad changes.

SCSI’s strategy is to initially focus on providing convenient, efficient, and effective methods of supporting current operations with their present products.  Critical inventories and delivery schedules will be maintained.  SCSI will purchase, store, consolidate, and deliver all materials in this program.  Secondly, SCSI will develop a communication plan.  This plan will record all activities and summarize essential information including costs. This plan will include schedules for reports and provide a method for continual feedback.

SCSI will establish a standing chemical management committee with the client to provide oversight for this program.  This committee should be comprised of members from each of the clients functional groups.  This would include purchasing, engineering, production, maintenance, and environmental / health & safety.  Issues related to the management of chemicals and the processes utilizing them will be discussed in this forum. Strategic planning will also be a primary function of this group.  From this platform, SCSI will  launch systems to improve the utilization of chemical materials and to train personnel in our methods.

Finally, we will prepare a launch schedule for the implementation of the customized program.  It  will provide detailed start-up timelines, and it will assign responsibilities to initiate program elements.  We recognize that detailed planning leads to successful implementation.

The method used to determine if there are sufficient potential savings to warrant proceeding is the survey, which we will perform after preliminary information is exchanged.

If you are serious about saving money in one of the costliest indirect commodity groups, please contact SCSI.
